I'm a waiter. Or Server. Or Front of House. I'm not sure what the term that we're supposed to be called now but whatever it is I'm it. I've worked at all sorts of restaurants over the past twelve years from a family run Italian joint, to a family friendly Irish bar, to a very well known major chain named for a very well known spicy vegetable. I ran a little burger and catfish joint as well as worked as the sommelier for a now closed fine dining restaurant. I currently work for another fine dining place which I will not mention or refer to by name (I happen to like my job) but feel the need to get out some of my rants on restaurants, guests, food and odd customer service habits out.
Here's where I'm going to do that. I've got TONS to get off my chest regarding this strange choice for a profession. Some good, some bad. I hope to use this as a ventilation system for my bad nights but also to possibly educate fellow servers in how to handle bizarre situations and maybe even have a few readers empathize.
Enjoy.
